OpenDNS is a free DNS resolution service. It provides two recursive nameserver addresses for public use, mapped to the nearest operational server location by Anycast routing:
How it works?
OpenDNS is the world's most intelligent DNS service. Its global network and its software work together symbiotically to offer a set of features custom-tailored to you, without requiring you to buy any hardware or install any software.
OpenDNS has servers situated strategically at the most well-connected intersections of the Internet. Unlike your ISP, its network uses Anycast routing technology, which means no matter where you are in the world your DNS requests are answered by OpenDNS closest datacenter. Anycast routing also means that you are automatically routed to OpenDNS next closest datacenter in the event of maintenance or downtime. This makes your Internet faster and more reliable.
Phishing Protection
Phishing, or using phony websites to trick people into handing over their personal information, threatens everyone who spends time online. (Definition...) OpenDNS phishing protection is designed to keep everyone on your network safe from phishing scams and let you browse the Web confident you won't be fooled.
OpenDNS operates and uses Phish Tank, the Web's most trusted source of phishing data. PhishTank is so good, Yahoo! Mail uses its data to protect all account holders. The site works by having real people look at suspected phishing scams and verify their legitimacy.
PhishTank has verified more than a quarter of a million phishing scams. They pass the intelligence straight on to you and protect everyone on your network.
Typo Correction
OpenDNS don't think you should be punished with an annoying error message if you make a small typo, like typing google.cmo instead of google.com. OpenDNS correct it and opens you the expected website!.

How does openDNS make money?
OpenDNS earns a portion of its revenue by sending the user to an OpenDNS search page when a domain name that he has entered is not valid. Advertisements are displayed on this search page to help fund the operations of OpenDNS. While this behavior is similar to VeriSign's previous Site Finder, OpenDNS states that it is not the same, as OpenDNS is purely an opt-in service (compared to Site Finder's effect on the entire Internet, as VeriSign is an authoritative registry operator)and that the advertising revenue pays for the customized DNS service.
According to OpenDNS, additional services that run on top of its enhanced DNS service will be provided, and some of them may cost money

After sensing the movement of users, the technology modifies temperature, humidity, light level, and other environmental factors. You can also configure the product to automatically adjust lighting and environmental factors such as temperature for when the house is occupied and unoccupied.
